2020 has given us the most unprecedented challenges as we have all been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic plus other natural disasters that tripled the negative impact on many people and our planet. In Thailand, although the number of infected patients is not as high as in other countries, the impact of the economic slowdown has affected thousands of vulnerable communities. When underprivileged people lose their jobs and must live without proper social security, they struggle harder to find a way to get their life back to normal. They haven’t been able to feed the whole family like they used to do. Those average families fell into the "poor" category, while those poor fell into the "extremely poor" category. As we carry our daily mission, we've seen it with our own eyes. And it is really sad to see.
Scholars of Sustenance Foundation would like to ensure that we continue to help and don’t leave anyone behind from the 220 communities we supply food regularly. Just this year alone, we have distributed more than 3 million meals to the communities, which is a similar amount to what we had done for the first 3 years (2016- 2019). This shows how much food is desperately needed by people now more than ever before.
But we couldn't have been done all of this without the generous supports from everyone, the food donors, the financial supporters, the community leaders, and Thai SOS team.
Together, let's continue to fight against the hunger pandemic – another big issue we really have to address.
