Sam Phraya Santisuk Community is a muslim majority community in Hua Hin. Around 120 villagers in this community received up to 88.45kg of food donations from SOS Hua Hin. The community leader and some villagers came and participated in food selection and helped SOS distribute the food to the community around the neighborhood.
.
Many people in this community were in poor living conditions due to less job opportunity for them during the pandemic, so SOS decided to help them by donating food surplus from our regular donors. The donated food was able to keep their stomach full for about 1 day, which could also reduce their living expenses. Variety of snacks were provided as in many communities that SOS has helped, many children had not had the opportunity to taste particular snacks, so we felt it was crucial to distribute some sweets and dessert to the children in the community.
.
Since it was a muslim community, SOS was being careful during the food distribution and had to make sure that the food was halal and safe for them to consume. Our Food Rescue Ambassadors are very well-trained in food safety and food handling so the people could receive the right choice of food.
.
SOS Hua Hin could sense the harmony in this community during the food distribution where the villagers share the food together and help each other. They care for one another even during this pandemic, and SOS wants to do the same to care for everybody regardless of their ethnicity and religion.
