SOS Chiang Mai received a food donation from Le Meridien Hotel, weighing 35.30kg, which was equivalent to 149 meals. It was the untouched food surplus from the seminars and still can be perfectly eaten. The hotel staff nicely packed the food in the sealed boxes and gave them to SOS so that we could hand it over to the people who needed it.
.
There were people from two communities in Chiang Saen Community and Don Chuen Community that received food donations from SOS. The people in these communities are facing difficulty in their lives due to the pandemic, and what they earn in a day is not much for their own living and their family. It is quite hard to imagine that everyday they consume very little food, that their daily meals could not make their stomach full.
.
The head chef from Le Meridien Hotel feels that it would be a waste if they throw away the perfectly uneaten food surplus from their kitchen, and they also understand the effect food waste contributes to our planet. So instead of throwing food surplus away, they thought of helping out the poor with the opportunity that they had and contacted SOS to help them distribute the food to the vulnerable.
.
SOS Chiang Mai feels happy and delighted to see that this hotel and many other donors appreciate the food and have the thought to help the people in need. Gratitude is ours because SOS would not be here today without the support from everyone. If you are interested in our work or have food to donate, feel free to contact us.
