It's a new year and a FRESH start for SOS Chiang Mai's operation, and we're feeling Royal! Recently, we organized a Food Rescue Program with our newest food partner and received a lot of food surplus that was almost expired. With the expansion of partnership with Royal Project Foundation, we have amassed the yield of food rescue performance and food distribution in Chiang Mai. Starting in 2nd week of January, this fresh vegetable manufacturers have provided more than 36,000 meals to the community in need! Fresh veggies for a fresh start indeed!
.
As well as other donor support like Tops Supermarket, S&P, Mister Donut, and Anantara Chiang Mai Resort donated 175kg of food surplus to SOS Chiang Mai to help the vulnerable. We distributed food and kindness to the community that are affected by the pandemic.
.
The highlight of Chiang Mai story continue with the story of our beneficiary. Khun Mam is an officer of Nong Pa Khrang Municipal Hospital and has been observing the impact of Covid-19 affecting many people, making them suffer, and many elderly have bedridden conditions. Families lost their jobs as their main income was from tourism. She mentioned food is scarce and insufficient for the whole family to fill their stomach.
.
SOS hence collaborated with Khun Mam by distributing the donated cooking materials and food for the families to preserve their savings. Snacks were also given to the family to take care of their children since the school was closed. This could ease their energy and burden.
.
Like SOS Thailand always emphasizes, instead of throwing away the food surplus, why not let us handle it and pass it to the people who actually need it, so that they will be able to fill their stomachs with clean and healthy food. With the fast growing collaborative force in Chiang Mai, the future of the food rescue operation will be absolutely exciting!!
