FBLI 2023: Ending Hunger and Tackling Food Waste Globally

Updated: Apr 18, 2023

SOS has recently had the opportunity to stage The Food Bank Leadership Institute (FBLI), an annual international conference hosted by The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN). This is an important event that brings together food bank leaders, social entrepreneurs, global corporate citizens, and experts from around the world who are at the forefront of building a sustainable food system.

.

FBLI is the world's only global food bank conference that results in local leaders opening new food banks and expanding programs to tackle issues such as child hunger, loss of food, and food waste, as well as increasing the capacity to help more people.

.

In 2023, FBLI took place in Mexico under the theme 'Food Banking in an Age of Volatility.' This is an important topic as recent disruptions to the global food system and supply chain have caused more and more people to turn to food banks for help. Food banks around the world have adapted and shown resilience to these challenges in order to support communities, but global trends remain highly uncertain. At this year's event, speakers from various food bank organizations will share their experiences.

.

Mr. James Leyson, Managing Director of the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation in Thailand and the Philippines, represented our organization and presented a story about the importance of data management for our foundation. This is an important part of our working system and a key factor in building strong relationships with all partners. Working with the foundation can be measured, and there is always proof of our work.

We are honored to share our experience at FBLI 2023 with representatives from more than 200 banks from all over the world who are traveling with the same goal in mind: ending hunger and dealing with the food waste problem at the same time.
